Early Life, Career, and Marriage

Dawn Chanté Flythe Moore, born Dawn Flythe on August 8, 1975, is an American philanthropist, community organizer, campaign strategist, and the First Lady of Maryland. She is married to Democrat Wes Moore, the 44th Governor of Maryland and the third Black governor in the United States.

Before public life, Moore focused on community work. She has been a strong advocate for women and children.

Role as First Lady

As First Lady, Moore prioritizes supporting and empowering Maryland families. She is actively involved in initiatives related to education, homelessness, and maternal and child health.

Personal Life

Moore and Governor Moore met on a blind date in 2007. They have two young children and reside in the Governor's Mansion in Annapolis.

Education and Background

Moore earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2001. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Accomplishments and Recognition

Moore has been recognized for her contributions to Maryland's communities. She received the Maryland Traditions Award for Community Service in 2023.
